Helping children build the skills they need for everyday life.

Every child deserves the opportunity to grow into their fullest potential. At Spectrum Squad, our Occupational Therapy (OT) services help children develop the physical, sensory, cognitive, and self-care skills they need to become more independent at home, in school, and in their community.

Whether your child struggles with handwriting, sensory processing, fine motor skills, emotional regulation, or everyday routines, our occupational therapists create individualized treatment plans that focus on meaningful progress through fun, engaging activities.

Meet Dr. Marisol Busacay

Marisol Mateo Busacay (she/they) is a dedicated occupational therapist, Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist, and former Long-Term Trainee with the Stony Brook NY LEND program. Since earning their Doctorate in Occupational Therapy in 2022 where they completed their doctoral capstone on the vital role of occupational therapy in suicide prevention. They ground their practice in a trauma-informed, neuroaffirming lens, ensuring every child is supported with deep empathy and respect for their unique neurological framework.

As the Occupational Therapy Director at Spectrum Squad, Marisol brings a profound commitment to pediatric mental health and an overarching mission to help upcoming generations thrive. Marisol leads their team with a vision of collaborative, empathetic care, mentoring fellow therapists to foster an environment where every child's potential is recognized and nurtured.

Recognizing that clinical success often extends beyond the therapy room, Marisol is also pursuing their Master of Social Work at Columbia University and has contributed insights on mental health advocacy through publications with AOTA. This dual-discipline perspective allows them to comprehensively address the full spectrum of challenges their clients face bridging personal, developmental factors with broader systemic barriers to uplift both the child and their entire caregiving network.

When Marisol is not advocating for children and families, Marisol enjoys exploring the outdoors by camping with her dog and learning how to fish. At home, she loves to recharge by reading, crafting, and practicing yoga.

Marisol looks forward to welcoming your family to the Spectrum Squad!
